The quintet comprises Elspeth Ong (vocals, guitar), JJ Tan (lead guitar), Paul Yuen (bass), Badrul Amin (synth/vocals/guitar) and Jolin Chiam (drums). Citing influences from revered 90s dream pop/shoegaze acts such as Slowdive, My Bloody Valentine and Cocteau Twins, the band crafts a world of ethereal soundscapes by combining lilting melodies with reverb-drenched nostalgia.

Since their formation, motifs have performed at Singapore’s largest alternative music festival, Baybeats, and at numerous venues across Singapore. They are fast gaining a reputation for their dynamic live shows. The band will be releasing their debut album ‘Remember A Stranger’, which was recorded with legendary producer Leonard Soosay of Snakeweed Studios.

The band plans to continue playing live shows and eventually tour overseas. At the same time, the band believes in honing their craft in creating meaningful atmospheric music with future studio releases.
