  • Shye

Shye is a fully independent bedroom to billboard artist from Singapore. Self taught, she also takes on the responsibilities of writing, producing, recording, mixing and mastering her music from home. In 2018, Shye’s unexpected music journey began after she became the youngest participant to win Vans Musicians Wanted at the age of 16.

5 years into her music journey, with 1 album and with 3 EPs (4th on its way) under her belt, Shye’s notable achievements include:

  • Best New Artist (Freshmusic Awards SG 2021)
  • Best New Act from Asia (Bandlab NME 2022)
  • Album of the Year (Singapore Youth Festival 2021)

She was also the opening act for international artists such as Clairo, Superorganism, Sales, Boy Pablo (show cancelled) Men I Trust, Daniel Caesar, The Chairs and was also invited to write a verse and duet with Ruel during his tour in Singapore.

Shye has been invited to play in local and overseas festivals such as Baybeats, MediaCorp Indiego, (Singapore) Urbanscapes, (KL) Bangkok Music City & Music Lane Okinawa (virtual due to Covid) Asia Rolling Festival, (Taipei) and Tiger Den SXSW. (Austin Texas) She was also most recently, a finalist in a music competition reality show 青年派计划, that was televised on Mango TV in Hunan China.

Inspired by various genres, Shye loves the freedom she has as a producer to explore different music styles with her soundscape floating between indie pop, electronic, grunge rock and whatever that inspires her. Making music is a “happy accident” and what had started as a way to pass time during the school holidays in 2017 has turned out to be more than therapy for Shye.

She hopes her music makes someone smile and makes them feel understood and heard.
