Piyapong Muenprasertdee or ‘Py’ is a Thai music industry academic and lover of DIY music making. He holds a B.Eng. and MS in Industrial Engineering, and an MBA focused in entrepreneurship.
In 2014, he co-founded Fungjai – a music platform, events organizer and marketing company based in Bangkok, Thailand best known for its indie music community and live events, such as Maho Rasop Festival – Bangkok’s first international independent music festival; Bangkok Music City (BMC) – Thailand’s first international music conference and showcase festival; and ASEAN Music Showcase Festival (later renamed as AXEAN Festival) – Southeast Asia’s first intraregional collaborative music showcase festival. He is passionate about connecting people and networks while also promoting local and regional music artists to the world.
Before his music industry career, he was a consultant in the field of sustainability and climate change with an expertise in carbon footprinting and green buildings. But because music was his true calling, he married his technical background with his passion, and now works studiously for a more sustainable music industry with government agencies, private and non-government organizations and educational institutions to realize his vision.
Lastly, he co-founded an innovation training and consulting company, CreativeCup.Co, while naming himself its Creative Engineer.
Fungjai started its life in 2014 as a local music streaming platform and grew to become Thailand’s largest music community and platform, connecting artists and music lovers together both online and offline. It joined the Ookbee Group in 2015 and has expanded into concert and festival promotion, online media, creative marketing, online education and more. Py is one of the 5 co-founders and still serves as their Director of Educational, Governmental and Overseas Partnership.
Ookbee started out in 2012 as a startup in Thailand developing eBook stores across Southeast Asia with presence in Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, and Malaysia with more than 5 million customers in the region. In 2014, it started building and acquiring User Generated Content (UGC) platforms to support the growing communities of content creators and their fans with more than 16 MAU (Monthly Active Users). Py serves as their Head of Group Partnerships bringing in new business opportunities for the group.
Creative Cup is a corporate innovations training and consulting company focused on creativity and creative solutions utilizing well known tools such as Design Thinking and the Business Model Canvas, and many originally derived methods. Its customers comprise of public and private organizations that see the importance of developing the innovator mindset for their new generation of leaders. Py is a co-founder and serves as their Creative Engineer.
